Jhargram Belpahari Gopiballavpur

 

Ghagra Water falls: From Belpahari in the north lies this mountain range. The main attraction is the rippling water of the Tarafeny river and the huge rocks. It is quite near the Tarafeny Barrage.

 

Gurrasini: A quite place where Sadhus dwell. The name of the ashram is Satananda Ashram. A diciple of Satananda called Jagadananda made this Ashram. A festival is held on 17th November every year. There is a temple of Lord Shiva on top of the mountain. In the bottom is the river Tarafani. During the winter it is an ideal place for visiting.

 

Kakrajhor: A distance of 79 Kms form Jhargram. From Jhargram to Belpahari, then from Belpahari to Bhulaveda and Siarbindha, a person can reach this place. A variety of trees like Sal, Pial, Kendu, Simul, Bohera & Haritoki is grown in this jungle. It is a very beautuful place surrounded by dense forests. At the top of the mountain is a forest guesthouse. On a full moon it is a charming place.

 

The Hills of Kanaisor: These are situated at about 14 Kms from Belpahari. A religious festival is held in the autumn season for 5 days, by the aboriginals of the area. Inhabitants gather here for the festival in thousands. Jackfruits and Mangoes are plentiful in this festival. Horar village is situated near about. Migrating birds gather here in flocks during May and June.

 

The Spring at Ketki: From Belpahari to Odalchua. Distance of about 11 Kms. A walking distance of 4 to 5 Kms. At the surrounding of village Singadoba and Burijhor is Chevara hills where the Ketki spring flows.

 

The Laljal Mountains: From Jhargram to Belpahari lies Laljal Mountains at a distance of 63 Kms. About 3 Kms from Gumba Pahar is Laljal. Once upon a time a saint called Ramswarup was reverd. On this Mountain there is a Basanti Mandir. A Fair is held during this season. Beautiful village range can be seen in this area.

 

Orgonda: From Jhargram to Silda towards Bankura you will reach this place. It is about 2 Kms from Silda. A stony place of Makra is built and an incomplete Vairav Mandir stands here. It is said that Lord Vishwakarma had brought stones on the back of an Ox to build this temple. But before dawn the temple was not completed, it is said as a cock crew and so it was left imcomplete. Many say that a dominant volcano exists in Orgonda. There is a tremor within a year or so.

 

Tarafeni: Ghagra is 49Kms from Jhargram. From here Tarapheni Barrage is about 4 kms through a red soiled road. Many trees bearing fruits are along this place. A lot of migrating birds can be seen in this place.
